Twenty Years From Now

Two-thousand seven marks the fifteenth year since Conservation Fisheries was officially incorporated in 1992.  However, the concepts that led to the formation of CFI took shape beginning in 1986.  J.R. and Pat have actually been pursuing CFI's mission for over 20 years.  Plenty of time to develop new approaches to aquatic conservation.  Plenty of time for families to grow and leave the nest.  Plenty of time for a couple of tanks to increase to thousands of gallons in a one-of-a-kind hatchery.

This anniversary year seems like an appropriate time to ask, "Where will CFI be in 2027?"  The answer to that, dear readers, depends in large measure upon you.  Your words of praise, advice and encouragement have meant much as CFI has traveled this road.  Now, we are asking for your support in a more tangible way.

The CFI hatchery is running at or near capacity.  We need to increase the amount of hatchery space by at least 50 percent, in order to be able to include more imperiled fish on our roster.  We also need to renovate our offices to make more efficient use of the available space, and to safely and appropriately accommodate visitors, school tours, and meetings.  These improvements will, of course, require money.  As a beginning step, I am pleased to announce the launch of our first-ever membership drive.  By becoming a member, you will help CFI establish a capital improvements fund, and directly assist in achieving our goal of saving more of the Southeast's imperiled fish species.

Annual membership dues are an affordable $25.  We'll send you an official CFI staff T-shirt as a way of saying Thank You!  You will also receive our annual printed newsletter, the first edition of which is scheduled for February, 2008!  And because CFI is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization, $15 of your membership dues is tax-deductible.

Please help us to expand the important work we began two decades ago.  Click on the link below to enroll now!  Please share this newsletter with your friends and colleagues, and encourage them to join us, as well.  Thanks in advance for your continued support!

Yes! I want to sign up as a CFI Member.

(If you choose not to become a member, we understand.  You will continue to receive the e-newsletter unless you unsubscribe.)

Another Way You Can Help

SunTrust has made community involvement an important part of the relationships they have in the communities they serve. As part of their commitment, SunTrust has recently launched the My Cause promotion designed to help raise money for nonprofit organizations just like ours. From now through October 12, clients who open a new SunTrust Personal or Business Checking account, accept a new SunTrust Visa® Check Card, make any purchase using the card, and complete and submit an online redemption form by November 15, 2007, can choose for SunTrust to either donate $100 to their favorite nonprofit organization or choose to receive a $50 gift card to keep for their own cause.

If you plan to open a checking account between now and October 12, 2007, we encourage you to consider becoming eligible for SunTrust’s My Cause promotion and request that they donate $100 in your name to Conservation Fisheries.  We ask that you help spread the word about this promotion to your friends, family, and personal and business contacts. The more people who are aware of the program and its offering, the greater the opportunity for us to receive donations. We appreciate your continued support.
