Noturus
crypticusThis recently described (2005) saddled madtom remains on our "wish list". Despite extensive recent surveys, only three specimens have been collected over the past 10 years. Two, collected in 2004, lived in our facility for over two years. This fish was most recently observed in Little Chucky Creek in east Tennessee. Agriculture has impacted the creek and all surrounding streams. If additional specimens can be collected we hope to propagate more Chucky madtoms to enhance the population in Little Chucky Creek.
