Status: IUCN: Endangered; USFWS: Threatened (1977)

Threats: Agricultural practices, deforestation, mining, pollution, and sedimentation (What do these terms mean?)

Native Range: *Upper Tennessee River drainage (Holston, Clinch and Powell Rivers), TN and VA

Spawning Habitat Preferences: Spring spawners; medium to large rivers with moderate-high flow; lay eggs overabundant, clean gravel shoals

CFI Status: Monitoring from 2000-2002 and 2004-2008, 2011-2012. (What do these terms mean?)

*They have the smallest range of any North American minnow.

We never had them in the hatchery because we couldn’t find them in the wild, but we used Streamline Chub and Blotched Chub as surrogate species in case we ever were able to collect any.

Slender Chubs are thought to be extinct at this time.
